Zombie Army VR, an adaptation for virtual reality of the popular zombie shooter franchise, recently had its release date delayed to 2025. Rebellion’s hard-hitting shooter was originally on track to launch much earlier than this, but developers have opted to hold the release back in favour of polishing gameplay and making sure it offers a high-quality VR experience.
Reasons Behind the Delay
Rebellion are citing the need to improve upon the sensatory elements that Zombie Army VR hopes to create as the primary reason for this delay. Given the active and reactive tendencies of VR, mechanics as well as visuals should be polished to fit into the thing. With Swordsman VR already being well-received, the team is making sure that you get what you expect from the game in VR and not just an excuse to kill things but a polished experience.
What Fans Can Expect
The Zombie army VR remake has been described as “survival horror action at its most intense, against ever-teeming hordes of zombies and exhaustion within a richly atmospheric environment”. Featuring the series’ signature slow-motion mechanics, and brutal weaponry, it will have players facing challenges that make use of a VR’s immersive potential. Come 2025 though, you can expect to find more polished mechanics, greater visuals and maybe even some new additions or stages for the VR experience.
While the postponement is a disappointment for fans chomping on the bit for a dose of VR horror, it also reflects Rebellion’s commitment to never having speed overcome quality and putting forth an entreating endeavor capable of both reeling in long time series fans as well at VR diehards alike.
